Preferred Companies is a
corporate combination of two separate entities. It has been built on
the experience and realizations of other companies and with the
rights and wrongs from “both sides of the fence”. It is our hope that
this background is never lost.
Preferred Plumbing operates under State license 457554 obtained in
1984. The present company was conceived in 1991 and brought into
reality in 1992 from absolute scratch. It was started as a two unpaid
employee, one truck operation and quickly grew because of the service
philosophy it was built on and the sweat and tenacity of its’ first
employees; whom I am proud to say are still mostly with us. The
employee turnover rate with this company is at an absolute minimum
which reflects the philosophy of employment – the “other side of the
fence” It is always kept in mind.
As the company grew we all agreed to encompass the niche market of
property mangers and real estate; avoiding the commercial restaurant
trade. This marketing strategy worked well for us as client
confidence grew quickly and familiarity and name recognition
expanded.
In 1995 Preferred Plumbing incorporated as Preferred Air Conditioning
and continues to grow steadily. The small company atmosphere is
trying to be kept both inside the office and out in the field. This
is a difficult concept to retain as volume grows and certain legal
aspects become required to force the company to become large in its
management style. It will be the individual personalities of the
employees that keep it small.
In 1998 air conditioning and heating services were added. There was a
natural extension to incorporate heating and air conditioning into a
plumbing concern. The marketing for this entity is a bit different
because of the intense competition for this work in the Coachella
valley. Again, the property management niche was tapped as a secure
customer base was already in existence.
As the companies expand, a strict growth control will be in place to
inhibit the factors discussed above and to keep our philosophies in
check.
